How to Build Your Brand Step 5: Provide Value

What is the one thing that you must do when deciding on how to build your brand? Find ways to provide value.  Providing value is the key to getting people to notice you and getting them to stay with you. So what is of value to your audience and how do you go about giving it to them?

There’s nothing worse than that guy (or girl) that is out there promoting themself, talking about how awesome they are, and why YOU should be following them.  I don’t know about you, but that “pushy marketing” style just doesn’t jive with me.  And I really don’t think that it does with most people.  The problem is, there are a lot of people out there branding themselves because they just love to talk about how awesome they are.  So you have the advantage of standing out, by providing your audience with what they are looking for – VALUE!

My Mentor, Dr. Doug Firebaugh, has said that there are two types of people; Those with a Value Focus, and those with a Volume Focus.  A Value Focus is what can you do FOR someone else, and a volume focus is what can someone else do FOR you.  If you focus on Value, the Volume alwasy shows up.  If you’re focused on the volume…you’re going to work really hard, with little results.

If you have identified your niche market and your unique message, you can provide information to that market that they are looking for.  Always make it about THEM.  How you can help them, what service you can be of to them, how you can help them reach THEIR goals and dreams.  If you constantly pour out that kind of value to your audience, they will love you for it!  (You know how you feel when someone looks at you and says “you look so tired!!!!” vs someone who comes up to you and says “oh my gosh, you look fabulous! How ARE you?”  Be that second person ALL the time to people 🙂 Pour out the love)

Make the message, the information, and the content you put out give your audience hope of endless posibilities, show them how they can fulfill their dreams.   Make it so that every time that they hear from you they are left feeling that warm and fuzzy feeling that uplifts them throughout the rest of their day.  LOVE people, and genuinely WANT to help them.

If you have success stories of your clients, customers or team members, make sure you’re sharing THEIR success instead of yours. Talk about how they overcame some adversity or climbed to the top of that mountain.  People love stories, but you need to be telling someone else’s story, not your own.

If you really want to stand out as a brand…..Find a few people in your niche market, and edify THEM.  Share their content on social media, tell others how awesome they are, share their blog posts and have no  reason to do so, other than that you want to provide others with THEIR value.

That one step will really make you stand out, and gain you respect in your industry.  People LOVE being edified and your doing so will make them really like you.  You’ll find yourself building an amazing network within your brand, and those relationships almost always turn into referrals for you and for them.  So remember to promote people all the time.

How To Build Your Brand: The Power of Your Message!

There is Power in Your Message when it comes to How to Build Your Brand.  What you say and how people perceive you will ultimately determine your success.  When it comes to building your brand, you can’t hide behind any curtains…. The true you is shown through the power of your message.  So how do you start to deliver your message?

As you start to build your brand one question you must ask yourself is “what is my message“? This is an easy question to answer for some, and a complex question for others. If I’m honest, this took me a while to figure out. I started out wanting to be the female Ray Higdon (which is still a-ok with me!) so I was trying to appeal to EVERYONE in network marketing. But I realized it was hard to be congruent, trying to appeal to young marketers, older marketers, single marketers, and my crowd – the work from home and stay at home parents. My posts were a little bit all over the place, my offer really didn’t make sense, and I wasn’t really getting a following.

It took some time, and trial and error, but I realized my market was people who wanted to avoid making the most common mistakes in building a successful home business. (ie, the mistakes I made!) I wanted to help people have success SOONER than I did. That was my message! I wanted to help people who were and are struggling like I was. So… people just like me! Which goes back to what I talked about in the last post…”How to Be Unforgettable“.

The best advice I’ve ever had when it came to figuring out WHO I was trying to speak to actually came from Ray Higdon. He told me to sit down and literally draw your ideal customer avatar. What do they do? What do they like? What are their hobbies? What do they have in common with you? What are their struggles? What are their fears? Write it all down and KABLAM!!!...You’ve got your niche market!

So now that you’ve identified WHO you are delivering your message to….HOW do you deliver your message? The best platform to do this on, is Social Media. If you want to Brand yourself, and you don’t like Social Media….You might have a little problem!!

The things you say in your posts and messages to others reveals who you are. In your messages and posts you want to have POWER in what you’re saying. The Power that you’re going somewhere. Power that draws excitement out of people. Power that elevates others.

Your posts and your messages must always be positive and uplifting. You CAN’T (I repeat….CAN’T) waiver back and forth between complaining and being positive. People aren’t going to follow anyone who is negative WHATSOEVER. So if you have some posts out there complaining about the weather, your kids, your spouse, the news, celebrities, etc. Take them down now and start over. You must ALWAYS uphold your Brand in your posts. You are a business, and you need to act like one!

Have you ever been on social media and seen a “Leader” being negative? I have. I’ve seen a lot lately that claim to be “everything” that a leader should be, yet they are CUTTING people down. I don’t get it. Don’t pretend to be one way, and then turn around and BE what you “claim” to despise.  People will see right through you.

So in your posts and in your messages, make sure to use active words and memorable words. Don’t act like some “know-it-all“, but be knowledgeable. If you’re messaging with someone, answer their questions, and treat them like they are a leader also…by asking them questions!

Ask more questions than you answer and keep YOUR answers brief. Allowing someone else to talk more in a conversation really makes people like you. You’re showing that it’s not all about you, you want to know about them, and respect them. You can’t buy that kind of trust.

If you connect with people and build great relationships, make sure to send them some referrals! People who are already successful in their business and brand appreciate nothing more than someone who sends them customers! It really makes you stand out and look like a total professional in your industry.

In your content…whether that’s posts, or content on your blog….BE CONSISTENT. Like my mentor Dr. Doug Firebaugh says….”Consistency and Repetition are the most powerful tools for branding“. If you’re consistent, it shows that you are serious, and people follow people who know where they’re going. Consistenly pour out value that your followers begin to expect from you, and continue to pour it out through your entire career. Once you are comfortable with being consistent, it gets easier, and becomes a habit. You’ll start to deliver content that makes you proud, and you’ll hold yourself to a high standard that is going to stand out from the rest!!

So there you go…..figure out your message, narrow down your niche, and consistenly provide them value and powerful encouragement, and you’ll have a Brand that is UNSTOPPABLE!

How to Build Your Brand: Be Unforgettable

Today is Part 2 of my 7 part series on How to Build Your Brand! Yesterday in the post about “5 Reasons You Need to Brand“, we talked about the fact that you have to be Memorable.  So today, we’re going to cover exactly how to do that, so that you will be unforgettable!

Take a minute for a second and think of all of the people, companies, icons, etc. that are unforgettable. What is the common denominator among them all?…They all have either solicited some sort of emotion inside you, or have built a slogan or image that you can’t forget because they stand out. That isn’t by accident, it’s all in the power of their Brand.

Why should you want to brand yourself as YOU rather than as your company? There are many reasons. Future reasons, life changes, etc., but the main reason is that it increases your income, increases your potential and increases your power within your industry. So, you’ve decided to brand yourself. Now what? HOW to you come up with something that’s Unforgettable? Overthinking that one part will stall you and keep you in procrastination mode. The main idea is to start with who you are now. What do you love? What is your passion, your statement, etc.??? Write that down and run with that NOW. Chances are your brand will evolve many, many times! I’ve been building my brand for over a year and still feel like I’m just in the beginning because I can forsee how my Brand is going to change and build over the years as I GROW. What you decide to do NOW will likely not stick forever, and that is OK!! As YOU grow, your following will grow and follow you along your journey. It’s part of your Brand!

So then how do you BE Unforgettable? My Mentor, Dr. Doug Firebaugh says that there 3 ways you can be memorable to your prospect, client or customer;

1) Visually in their Mind
2) Emotionally in their Heart
3) Experiencally in their Soul

The main question you want to ask yourself when your identifying your brand is: “Are you Expanding and Improving People’s Lives?” So many people are trying to Brand themselves, (which is awesome!), but unfortunately very few are standing out, because they are not improving other’s lives, they are either following what someone else is doing, or they’re making it all about THEM. People don’t want to hear you talk about yourself all the time.

Another thing that Dr. Doug says that really resonates with me was “If you can not move people on the inside, you will NEVER move them on the outside.” Wait. Move them on the outside? What the heck does that mean??? Do you get the power in that statement?

You want them to GO with you! You want to DRAW them to you! You want to become MAGNETIC. Be someone who moves them SO much on the outside that they are just magenetically attracted to you! One trick I was taught was, when you find yourself in a room full of other people. UP YOUR ENERGY inside. Have you ever done that? Just mentally start thinking about emitting a higher energy in the room….And watch what happens! People will be DRAWN to you. It’s crazy how it just happens, but it does. People also get happier. Energy. Key to your brand!!

So what are your first steps?

1) Identify who YOU are and be YOU. Don’t be a fake, don’t pretend. Be you and you will draw people to you who are like you.

For instance, I LOVE Quicksilver and Roxy clothing. I love the skateboarding, surfing, beach, laid back culture. Do you know HOW many friends I’ve drawn into my life that just happen to LOVE the same things? Brands work!!
2) Figure out your mission and come up with a slogan! Mine for my home business training is “Committed to Helping you Have Success Success Sooner“, for my marketing and branding business, Rockstar Biz Solutions, it’s “Helping YOU and Your Business become a Rockstar Online“. Simple, but something that lets people know right away what I’m about. BUT, it’s about THEM!!
3) Get out, and get noticed! Also, start using your social media more (and make sure each profile is customized to that platform so that people know what your brand is) Don’t put something that doesn’t make sense to your brand. Take some time to sit down and fix your social media. If you’re not congruent, people will get confused with who you are and move on. (If you REALLY want to get started FAST CLICK HERE)
4) Be CURRENT. Have Confidence and SWAG in your Brand! Figure out that “thing” about YOU that people LOOOOOVE and market THAT in your business. Let go of your inhabitions and embrace how awesome YOU truly are!!

The main thing, is don’t overthink it. Be comfortable, BE YOU. Be who YOU would be drawn to. You can’t appeal to Everyone, and that’s ok! Believe in abundance and that there is the right person out there for each person needing help. You’re looking for who is looking for YOU.

Find your Niche and if you focus on marketing to them, you’ll make MILLIONS!!! That’s an absolute Guarantee 🙂

How To Build A Brand: 5 Reasons to Brand YOU

Today is Part 1 on the series “How to Build a Brand”! Inside this series, we are going to be covering reasons to brand, how to brand, and the steps you need to take to build a brand that stands out from the crowd.  If you’re looking to start your brand, or are wanting to increase the potential of your current brand, make sure to follow along in this 7 part series!

As you are likely aware of, building your brand is essential if you’re looking to build a BIG, long-term business.  I recently took some amazing training with Dr. Doug Firebaugh, which included the topic of Branding.  I’ll be sharing some of that information with you over the next 7 days.

When you start to build your Brand, you start to think Bigger, more outside the box, and it increases your awareness to other possibilities available to you, to expand your potential! I’ve been learning a lot from one of my mentors, Doug Firebaugh, on this subject and when it comes to branding he will have you thinking bigger!

There are a lot of people out there branding right now, but the first question most people will ask is “Do I really need to Brand myself?” Today’s post is going to cover 5 Reasons to take into consideration when deciding whether or not to brand yourself.

Building a powerful brand will set yourself apart from everyone else.  You will become the “Go-To” person, because YOU are the brand that people think of when they ask questions about your product, and what you specialize in. When somebody thinks of something related to your expertise…they will think of YOU.  That’s the power of a Brand!

So WHY Should you Brand?

1) If you are looking to quickly establish YOUR authority, you need to build your brand.

2) If you want people to take you seriously a LOT more quickly, build a brand that people can relate to and are drawn to.  They will like you a lot more if you have a brand they can trust.

3) People will REMEMBER you.  Come up with a catchy phrase or style of marketing that people can’t forget!  Make them feel appreciated and invite them to keep in contact with you.

4) Branding increases your credibility in your niche market.  Whatever your product is, people will believe that you are one of the experts in the field if you have built an attractive brand. So that means if they want to lose weight, travel, look younger, etc., they will seek out you for the information they need!

5) Your Brand is YOU.  No matter what company you are involved in now, or later, your brand will always be YOU.  You won’t need to start over when circumstances in business inevitably take over, or when change happens.  We are all continually growing, and your Brand can grow with YOU.

Building a Brand is one of the most essential parts of your marketing plan, and is the first thing you want to start with so that you are marking your space in the market immediately.

Make sure you are creating a brand that is UNIQUE.  (It can be hard at first to figure out what that means for you, but we’ll cover that in the coming posts).  Create a brand that draws emotion from the people who find you. People remember how you make them feel.  They will also remember how you didn’t make them feel.  So always be thinking like the person you want to attract!

Let people know that working with you adds VALUE to their lives, and make that a huge part in their decision to buy your product or service.  Let them know why hiring you, or working with you is the best decision they could make!

Move people with your message and you will see your sales increase, and people will be looking to work with you.  Your brand is your own one-of-a kind message that shows off what is unique in you.  We were all made unique and your brand allows that to shine!

Remember, most people who start to build a business will give up eventually.  If you keep building your brand, and stay consistent with your methods, you will stay ahead of the pack, and build a powerful business for life.
