Do you try to be “Supermom”? Constantly comparing yourself to other moms who seem to be able to get “it” all done, and never break a sweat? Today’s post is about the struggles of being a work-from-home mom trying to do it all.
So yep, that’s my desk. In the dining room. The only way I could make working-from-home “work”. I need to be accessible for the leg pulling and constant “mama…mama….MOMMY!” that happens oh….every 5 minutes. No longer do I have a window to look out, I have a wall to stare at. Albeit a wall full of powerful affirmations!! But you know what? It’s all about the quality of the work that gets done at that desk, and the fact that I don’t WANT to be sitting there. I want to get done what needs to get done, and get OUT!
Do you struggle with comparing yourself to others either in your personal life or in your business? It can be easy to want what “she” has, or wish you were as successful as “he” is. But honestly, wasting your time and energy thinking about those things is not helping you get to where you need to be! Stop comparing, be who you were meant to be, not who you think you should be! It will be a big load off of your shoulders, and your whole life and family will benefit from your change of attitude once you realize that you don’t have to be anything. You just need to be mom….or dad. Every day. Get as much as you can done, and don’t beat yourself up for what didn’t get done, or for what DID get done at “Supermom’s” house. Chances are, she’s missing something in her life too.
They say that the road to success is paved in failure….I hope the road to well-adjusted kids is paved in mom-failures! There are some days where I know too much focus gets put on “tasks” rather than the relationships. Do you ever have those days? I have had quite a few this summer. I’m really struggling with the fact that I’m committed to my routine and tasks because I know what it will provide for us, yet the sunshine is outside….calling our names…..can’t I just take the summer off? I hear that every day….but I remind them of the time that mommy will have to give if I just persevere for 60 more days. This 100 day challenge is tough! But it’s getting me results, so I can’t stop now! 🙂
Today’s video talks about my realization as to why I’m not, and never will be, Supermom, and why I have to stop comparing my results with others, because everyone is different! Sometimes I feel bad when I’m at my computer working, and I see on Facebook that some of my friends are doing awesome crafts with their kids….but then I realize. I’m not craft mom. Even if I did have the free time….that’s just not my thing! And if it was, I’m sure that’s what we’d be doing. Instead, I work, and we get outside and play or curl up in a book. Maybe my kids are missing out on crafts, but they still get their love any way I can give it! They see mom working hard for her dreams, and if I can instill in them that ANYTHING is possible if you just believe….then I feel I’ve done my job as a Mom. Crafts or not. 🙂
